Welcome to Mary Brigh 8BG

Well, my life on Alfred/Joseph is no more. Today is the official beginning of ortho trauma on 8MBBG. I came at 3:30 and I could tell the day crew had quite the day, pretty stressful and chaotic. Some nurses had moved 1/2 their patients up here, but still had some downstairs, don't ask me how that works. Things are semi-organized. Over the period of the 6 hours I've been here I've tried to memorize where things are, but honestly I'm very slow and confused at finding what I need. Hopefully the patients are not to bothered by the fact that I cannot find anything promptly. The unit is HUGE! My very first room is one of our 5 double rooms, 8-574A and B. It's in a corner and I have this giant computer and desk all to myself. There is sooooo much space, it's huge, the hallway is so huge! It's awesome. The rooms are huge and beautiful. We have a view of Rochester out our windows which is pretty sweet, there are vital sign machines in each room, there's room to move in any direction, the bathrooms are huge I can use the lift to lift people myself, there are like 10X more drawer/storage spaces everywhere, and so on and so on. But I do feel far from everyone, usually we're all charting by each other, but I cannot see anyone right now!!! Pod B was closed and we filled up pod G, but now there are 4 people in pod B. I believe we have 32 beds total. Which is pretty close to what we had before. I think there are 22 patients right now, so we're not full. Pod G is bigger because it's got a little extra chunk to it. Each pod is shaped like a horseshoe, so wherever you sit, you can pretty much see everyroom, which is such an improvement. The lockerroom/breakrooms are nice and there are so many more bathrooms for us and for families. The family lounge is awesome too! One thing I love is that the family members have their own couch in each room, so they're out of the way and they can sleep there too! Things are a little confusing up here, especially for the charge nurses, but everyone's doing pretty good. I already feel more aquainted then I did 6 hours ago. There are so many storage rooms, it'll take a while to remember what is in what. I'm sure they'll get around to labeling them eventually. It's fun to see people come up here and be like "wow, it's huge" We had an IV tech come up here and she was like, "why have I never been up here before" and I was like, well it's our first day, and she starting laughing and said, "oh that explains it".

Well, I think I'll go do a couple last things. I'll update about Christmas later.
But the feeling is is that I love our new unit, love it! And cannot wait for it to get all in order and organized, it'll be even better!

Worst night shift of my life and a runner up for the worst shift EVER

Hello all. I have a hypothetical 1/2 break, although I'm sure a call light will go on any second.

I have SIX patients since 11:00 last night. 3 are sleeping well for the most part. 2 are peeing on the hour every hour, I kid you not. And the remaining 1 is trying to jump out of his bed and pull out every tube and cord he has. Someone is sitting in with him, but it's no use, I'm in there constantly. I've given him many drugs designed to calm him, none work. We have restraints ready to go if he must be tied down.

My head is a fog and it's throbbing. I am nauseous and quite miserable feeling. The miserable feeling started at about 4:30. It's 5:30 and I just ate my first thing since 6:00 last night, wow, that's like 12 hours with no food, I guess that's not that impressive, but I've been active those 12 hours, so yeh, that explains the nausea.

2 hours left and many many pills left to give. I cannot give any until 6. The next nurse should relieve me around 7:15-30ish. That will be the happiest moment ever. Then I will go home and my bed will be like heaven and it will be the best feeling ever. Chris will be there and it'll be warm and cozy cozy cozy. Make it come sooner! In 3 hours, I'll be there.

Oh, there goes one of my lights, it's one of the pee-ers, jeesh, it's only been 45 mintues. Shoot me.

BYE!!!!! Sorry, I don't hate my job, I'm just so tired........

Whatnot and Such

I have pictures to put up, but I'm at work, so I cannot, but will later.

This past weekend was super super super fun. Here's why it was fun....Mom and I went on a lil' trip Fri-Sat.

First of all. Friday morning my dear friend Kelsey and I went to see our dear friends Heather and Casey graduate from WSU. The four of us are now all officially WSU Alumni!!!! It's been pretty neat to know these girls and be their roomates and see them go from freshman to graduated!!! I'm so proud! The ceremony was less exciting then starting at a wall, but it was worth it to see my girls walk up and get their diploma (or the holder for it) and to see them afterwards.

Friday night my mom and I left for a just-for-fun jaunt to the cities and surrounding area. We drove up to Burnsville and stayed at a lovely hotel. We went to the mall there and then to a super yummy restaurant called Old Chicago, so good! Then we went to a late movie in Lakeville of "I am Legend" with Will Smith, who knew it would be absolutely terrifying?! We didn't! But we were watching it through our fingers and shreaking. Ugh, so scary, but good. We enjoyed our cozy and fluffy beds and the continental breakfast. We then made our way to the Southdale mall in Edina. Here I spent all the x-mas $$$ people have given me to spend. I spent it all at my fav store: New York and Co. The total was $280.00, but due to coupons and discounts, it came to $118!!!! $100 of that was paid for my the grandparents and $15 of it by mom, leaving me with only $3.00 to pay out of $280.00, YES! I love it. PS: I would NEVER spend $280.00 on clothes, this was only made possible by the discounts. heehee.
Then we got to have lunchy lunch with Bricey Brice at a place called Bonfires, also very yummy. Then we checked out one more small mall, but we think we got the directions wrong and went to the wrong place, oh well. I also got some 50% off cozy things from Old Navy. Fun fun. It was fun to hang out just Mom and I and be all goofy and such. Mom was scaring me all night pretending to be the creepy aliens from the movie, heehee. Eventually we had to come home....

But, home was good too. I got to hang out with my husband, who forced me to work out with him, well he didn't force me, he's just a really good influence. We fianlly got to go to church together. I was wondering if people think we split up, cuz we're always there seperately, heehee. We taught our 2-3 year old about the shepards getting the message from the angel that Jesus was born. They are so cute. After I tell them the bible story, I quiz them.

This is me "The shepards visited baby Jesus!!" Then I ask them, "Who visiited baby Jesus?"
They all reply with a loud shout "God!" heehee, God is their answer to every question, I think that they think they'll just get the answers right if they say God. One of the kids gave us a gift card to Hollywood, fun huh? Afterwards we went to the mall and ate lunch with all the Hemmers and then some. Gavin and I watched the home movie of the day he was born, it's so cute. I remember it like it was yesterday, so it's fun to watch, because I remember what I was thinking. It shows me holding him for the first time, hard to believe he was so little.

Today, I slept in and decided to be a slug, it was very very fun. I had Kid's Hope @ 1:00-2:00, which was fun. And then I've been at work since.
I'm just waiting for the next nurse to take over for me in about 10-15 mins. I taped the finale of Little People and the new John&Kate + 8, so I'm excited to get cozy in bed and watch them!!!

I work tomorrow and Wed and then the overnight weekend, and then it's Christmas!!! I have the 24th, 25th, and 26th off. Then on the 27th I work an evening shift and it's our first day in the NEW UNIT!!! YESSSSSS. I had orientation there last week and I got to practice with the overhead lift system. They used me as a patient so I got to fly through the room and yell out, "I'm Peter Pan!" heehee, it'll be awesome, I can't wait. Today I slammed my hip into a chair and knocked over someone's water cuz our rooms are too small. \

Well, I better get going. Adios!

Nothing

Hello, I haven't update in a while. Not sure why I am right now, lack of something better to do I guess.

Hmmm..not much has happened. I go to work and such. I feel like November flew by, I don't even know what happened. One neat thing is that we got a Christmas tree, a real one, so I like that. It was pretty easy picking one out and setting it up. Chris carried it and put it in the holder and of course I got pictures of it. We decorated it and put lights up too.

I've been buying lots of Christmas presents. Last year I was feeling kinda stressed at the end cuz I saved it all to a few days before Christmas, but this year I started early and there's only a few people I can't think of what to get for.

I don't see my friends much and that has kinda been bummin me out lately, but luckily, I got to see Casey on Friday. I went to her house and hung out a bit, then we went to Chipotle and to the mall to shop around. Chris has been busy with school, he's got 2 papers left and a class on Tuesday, then he's done for the semester, nice huh.

Honestly this year I am hating winter. It's driving me nuts. It's so incredibly cold and I can't stand it. Yes, the snow is pretty, but it's in my shoes and all over my car and I feel like a Strooge about it, but I can't help it, it's miserable. I wanna go do something tonight, but I can't bear the thought of being so blasted cold again and again. I cannot wait for Spring, I just cannot wait. Chris keeps saying when we're old we should have a winter place in Florida, sounds like a good idea right now, hhahahah.

I am bored out of my brains tonight and all I can think of is the next 4 days of torture. I have a 8 hour class tomorrow, unpaid, which I need to re-new my license. Then I work the next four days, ugh. so tired of it. I was watching a show today about people who win the lottery and don't have to work anymore, I was thinking that would be fun, heehee.

Welp, I dunno what to do next, maybe I'll put up some tree pictures. Hopefully tomorrow will be a happier day, cuz this one is one for the birds. Bye.

Night 2 of 2, yes!

Well, it's 4:08am and we have been busy! Time has flown by and now I am finally sitting down to relax and I only have about 3 hours left. I have a bunch of things to do starting around 6:00am, so I have a couple hours to hang out.

I started with 3 patients and I now have 5. I got one admission at like 8:00p last night and one admission at 2:00am, a few hours ago. A sweet little lady. The nurse working with me tonight also got an early morning admission, so we've been busy! Everybody's falling and breakin' things tonight!

Things start to get a little harder to keep track of and organize once you get up to 5 patients. It's do-able at night while they mostly sleep, but I'm starting to forget their names and which is in which room, hahaha. Don't worry though, we have our cheat sheets in our pockets.

My patients are all pretty good. One lady is a bit confused and is being quite illogical, but she's not bad. I really couldn't ask for better, they're all sleeping pretty well.

I'm very excited to go home and sleep. However, I'll need to wake up after 5 hours of sleep to go see my child at Ben Franklin for Kid's Hope. This week we're doing homework and playing a game I think and maybe drawing with the new markers my mom bought for me to use with her, thanks Mom!

Yesterday, when I got home from work, I slept from 8a until 1:45 ish. I just woke up wide awake and went to hang out with my sweet husband who was doing homework all day. I went and worked out and then Chris and I went to Applebees! It's fun to go out to eat right before I come do an overnight. And that's all and here I am. I'm excited for way later today when I'm done with everything and I can just hang out! I have Tues off, but it's back here for Wed, Thurs, and Fri day shifts. I haven't had a day shift in almost a month! I'm kinda glad though; I had enough evenings for a while!

Well, my pinkie is hurting for some reason, so I'll say bye. Thanks for reading my blog!

Love you all!

The Night

Hello, I am here at St. Mary's and you are sleeping.

It's 3:30am, 4 hours to go....
It's about this time when I so want to go in my cozy bed! I'm just dying to be home! It' s not so bad here though. My 4 patients are sound asleep and I forsee them staying that way, cross your fingers, but that also leaves me with nothing to do. I've talked with co-workers, read magazines, talked to my cousin online for 2 hours, ate some food, ate more food, tried to find fun things to do on the internet, etc. And now, I'm bored and sick of looking at the computer screen.

I'm on the Alfred side, the smaller hall of my unit and there's only me and one other nurse here. So, it's very quiet.

Let's see, on Friday, I got to be a part of a lil' surprise party for my cousin Jill, who just turned 16. It was a lot of fun, we surprised her at Holiday Inn, long story, and got to swim and such. On Saturday, which was technically yesterday, I tried to sleep as long as I could so I could stay up all night (now) and I made it until about 11:00, but I woke up a lot. It was kinda fun to stay in bed. Then I watched an episode of America's Next Top Model, in my jammies, and finally got up and went to lunch with Chris (after he got done with class) at Erb's. We then went and worked out at the Dan Abe. Chris had to work at 3:30, so I went over to my parent's house and had supper with them. Thanks Mama! It was yummy sketti. Then I left from there to work, where I have now been for the past 7 hours.

I have a pain pill to give at 4:00am, which is comin' up, hahaha, it's my one big task to accomplish :)
I figure if I were a patient and I was sound asleep I'd like to be left alone, so I've been leaving my patients alone. I've been peeking in on the ones who have their doors open to see that they're breathing.

Hmm, I now have, what appears to be, a small mosquito bite on my wrist. This just happened, great, there's a spider on me somewhere and I just got a posionous bite. Weird!

Well, I guess I'll go now. I'll be sleeping from like 8a to 3p today! Then I come back here for one more overnight.

See ya alls.

Can't Believe I'm Blogging Again....

I think I just updated last night! But here I am again.

I had a feeling I'd be floating tonight and so I am, all eight hours. I am on Joseph 4B, a cardiac floor. I've been here once before. Since I'm not trained to read heart rhythms effectively, other nurses have to read my patient's monitors. I'm very very bored. I've kept slightly busy until now, but now I have an hour left. I have 3 patients. One is easy, one is super easey, and the third wishes me out of her room! She's not mad at me, she just really wants to be left alone, so I gave her some of her later meds early and I said I wouldn't be back unless she called me. She's now on the sleep enhancement protocol, meaning we're really supposed to limit our time in their so she can really sleep. 2 of my 3 have diseases I could catch, so I'm all gloved up and gowned up all night. But then again, I do that on my floor too. This boredom makes me appreciate my floor, I think. On my break, I headed back up to Joseph 7 and got to eat with 4 other girls I work with, so that was fun. It's funny, at least 1/2 of the nurses here right now, are floating here. So when we all got here they were asking me where to find stuff and I'm like yeh, I'm floating here too.

Today was neato, cuz I met my Kid's Hope child. It went really well. I have a little girl and she's extremely sweet and cute and energetic. When I met her, I told her we'd have an hour to do whatever we wanted (no homework tutoring on the 1st day) and her eyes lit up and she got all excited. I had her give me a tour of the school and I asked lots of questions and she just had a grand old time showing me everything. She has her picture up in a case for reading over the summer and she was very proud to show me that. It's always fun to show people around a place you know well and I could tell she had fun with it. Then we picked a spot in the library and played an I-Spy game with theses matching card thingies. She actually won! We started filling out a all-about-her sheet, but we didn't even end up finishing it because time went so fast. I'm honestly glad to go see her again next week. It was pretty funny.....here's our conversation

Me: We don't have to do homework today, but next week we will.
Her: What about tomorrow?
Me: Oh, well I come to see you only on Mondays
Her: Oh, not everyday??? Just Mondays???
Me: Yes
Her: So then I never have to do homework because my teacher said on Mondays we don't have to.
Me: I think your teacher just said no homework today. But we'll just do a little bit next week.
Her: Oh.

Hahah, funny. She totally though I came everyday, what a cutie.

I had a little bit of time after that to see Chris for a second before work. He was at Wendys and I was driving that way so we met at the Christian Book Store for about 10 mintues so I could tell him about it all.

Hmm, what else do I have to say.....
I work Tues and Wed evenings and then the OVERNIGHT WEEKEND, ahhhhhhh. I actually haven't done the overnight weekend in 12 weeks. I dread it, but at the same time, I'm kinda glad it's overnight this time and not in the day, there's just so darn much to do in the day so two 12 hour shifts are nuts. Well, at least I'm floating now so I don't have to this weekend, that would be a bummer, overnight on a floor where you know no one.

I'll be glad for next week when I start working days again. This is my 3rd week of evenings and I've had enough of them. They make me lazy in the day and I dunno how to stop that. All I can think of when I wake up is that I only have like 5 hours and then I gotta go to work. But when I work a day, I'm home by 4p and have the whole evening. It is a bummer to get up at 5:45, but it's better in the long run for me to just get up and get work done first.

I can't wait to go home! Ahhhh, it could be between 20 and 40 mintues before I get to leave and it can't come soon enough!

Ok, that's all folks. Have a wonderful week. Peace

Listing

November 3rd and 4th 2007 will never ever come again, so I thought I better document their happenings for all of history to read. (I'm copying the list style from my mom's blog, heehee)

Saturday:
1. Woke up at 6am, cuz Chris got up then for his class in the cities. But fell back asleep until 9:45am, sigh, it was great.

2. Worked out at the Dan Abe.

3. Went to Erb's and Gerb's with Christopher

4. Went to the new Target and got a gift card for cuzzin Jill

5. Went to new Dick's Sporting goods and tried out the virtual driving range. You actually get to hit a golf ball into a screen, it's cool.

6. Went to Jill's 16th b-day party. It was loads of fun. Watched Kellie/Whit cut bangs for Jill.

7. Went to the new theatre called Galaxy 14 Cine (but we're calling it " The Wehrenberg" you have to go there to understand. We went to alien child, it was very good. The theatre is odd. It's like 80s or 90s themed, all bright colors and neons lights, odd, but ok I guess. And after you get your ticket the lady like repeats back your movie and how much you paid into a microphone, therefore allowing everyone in close range to know what movie you're going to, weird.

Sunday:
1. Chris and I went to Emmanuel Baptist church (right next to where we live) for an assignment of Chris'. He had to go to a church of a different denomination and write a little paper on any differences. I was nice there, they were very friendly to us.

2. Met the fam at the mall. Saw Heather and Eric and talked to them for a bit.

3. Went to FINALLY get our wedding album! It's beautiful, well it better be after a year of waiting for it!

4. Went to show Mom the album and ended spending the afternoon there playing outside with Gav.

5. Mom, Dad, Chris, and I went on a long walk and then to Canadian Honker with Gaving too.

6. Just got home from that and will now go get in my jammies!

It was a wonderful weekend away from St. Mary's Hospital, where I have to go back to tomorrow. I also start Kid's Hope tomorrow and meet my child and hang with her, please pray that it goes well, I feel so nervous!

Love ya all! Have a good week.

Sunken Pumpkins

I'm blogging because I am bored out of my mind. I have 45 minutes left of work and I can hardly stand the thought of roaming the halls for that long, so I'm resorting to this to pass some time.

Last weekend we had a surprise party for Gran turning 70. It was at my uncle Randy's house in Lake Elmo. I think she was surprised! There were a lot of people there, mostly all the family. It's so wonderful to be with everyone. I just love my cousins and aunt and uncles and 2nd cousins and even 3rd cousins! We just hung out, ate food, played outside, and so on. The time went really fast. A strange thing happened to me on that day as well. My neck had been hurting in a strange way for a few days, but it hurt the worst that morning. As the day went on my neck got more and moe achy and the ache spread to my head and shouders and then arms. Pretty soon I just felt weird and very weak. I was seriously an effort to double click a mouse. On the drive home with mom, dad, and Gav, I felt the worst, but we had fun singing in the car, so I forgot about the pain for a while. I got to Mom's house and I had a temperature. I took some advil and felt a trillion times better and woke up better the next day. I called in sick to work for the first time cuz I still felt so weak and strange. But by the next day I was perfectly fine. Weird huh.

Chris and I just started something new togehter. It's called Kid's Hope. It's though our church and Ben Franklin Elementary. We've been paired up with a little kid and we spend an hour with them every week, doing homework and playing. Basically, they're kids who could use special attention for various reasons. We're just supposed to be a positive adult who cares about them, so we figured it would be a cool thing to do. I think I'm starting this Monday, I'm acutally a bit nervous, those kids are so darn scary, hehee. JK. It's just the thought of meeting someone new, always a little uncomfortable at first. Chris had a little boy and me a girl in the lower grades. We can stay with them all the way to 5th grade if we want.

So, Monday I called in sick, Tuesday I worked and then hung out with Casey @ WW and the mall, Wednesday I had off! Thursday (today) and Friday I work nights, bummer!!!
However, I have the weekend off and I'm going to see my Hemmer side on Saturday at my cousin Jill's b-day party. She turned 16 today acutally. Happy Birthday Jill!!!! And Kellie is coming home!

Yesterday, Halloween, I set candy out, but I don't think anyone took any. I went to Mom and Dad and hung out. Mom made us wonderful chili, I want some right now! We went on a littel walk to see the kiddies and a few came to Mom's house. We used to get a TON of kids, but now, since we're the last cul-de-sac and because North Park is so huge now, not as many people come all the way down to us, sad day. Chris and my pumpkins are starting to bite the dust. Can you just throw pumpkins away in the normal garbage? I guess so. They're getting soggy and caving in. Hahaha.

Well, I'm very eager to start a new job, but then I'm not at the same time. There's so many things I don't like here. But there's the fear of worse things somewhere else, ahh, I dunno what to do. I think I'll stick with my unit for a bit so I get to be a part of the new unit the end of December. Then I'll start really thinking about changing my job. I don't wanna get sucked into working here forever just because it's comfortable. I do wanna learn different things and never work on a floor again. I like many things about my floor. I do like the patients and spending time with them and making their day better and as oranized as can be. And I do like the people I work with and really getting the hang of things here. But it's just too psychotic, I'm willing to deal with it, but I don't wanna do this long-term. It's non-stop crazines and dis-organization. I feel like I have to organize everything, between patients, doctors, family members, physical therapy, everything. It's annoying and impossible sometimes. I would like to work somewhere where the patient is there temporarily, like the OR, where they come, get a surgery done, and leave. Some of our patients are here for months and months. There's just so much to deal with. Whatev, I'll just keep truckin' along. I do appreciate my job though, I get a paycheck because of it and I've learned a ton, so there are good things.

Okay, now I have about 20 mintues to spare, nice.

Hmm..what else can I talk about, la de dah......

Sadly, I have nothing else to say. I hope I didn't bore you all to death.

A week of work and a day of fun!

This week was okay, but I felt like I worked everynight. Working nights somehow seems to take up the whole day.

Wednesday was the only day I didn't work, but I found myself in the hospital regardless.
My sis-in-law, 12yr old Laura, went to the children's hospital at St. Mary's to get checked out for high blood sugar. Turns out, she has Diabetes type 2 (you should look it up). So, it seems everything is okay now and it's being taken care of, so that's good. So Chris and I spent some time with her that day.

I should go back to last weekend. Mom and I went to Women of Faith, my 3rd time there, with Kellie, Jill, Julie, and her mom and sister. The theme from Amazing Freedom, which is a very good theme! It was lots of fun! We got to hear Sandi Patty sing and also Nichole Nordeman. I've heard of her, but didn't realize how much I like her songs until I heard her sing! So, now I have her best hits cd :) and I really like it!

Today was nice. Chris and I went to work out and then went to Erbs. It was lots of fun :) But then.....he had to go work :( I went to my Mom's and we went to the Mall and Target to get some things. Then her and I and Dad ate at Culver's where I saw my dear husband working. He was busy managing, but was able to say hello to us a few times! Yip Yip. He does such a good job there. I'm so proud.

Then I went to the movie Dan in Real Life with none other than the fabulous Casey Bishop! It was a hilarious/touching movie, I'd recommed it. Then we went and browsed around at Shopko and figured out how to use her new phone that has many fun and high-tech features. My phone now seems quite ghetto. It's always fun to hang with "Bish" and chit-chat.

Now I am home, alone, and I think I'll pick up the messes I made earlier and soon my Chris will be home and I can attack him with hugs as he loves so much, teehee.

Well, there's a nice lil' update for y'all. Yee-haw.

Love, sincerely, best wishes, Brianna L.

1st Wedding Anniversary.

Yesterday, Chris and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary! We could hardly believe it had been a year already, it's crazy how fast a year can go.

We started it off by teaching 6 crazy 2-3 year olds at Sunday school. Well I we prevented them from killing each other more than we actually taught them anything, but yeh, what can you do, they're 2. Then we went to church and off to the mall to eat lunch with the fam.

We then went to buy pumpkins at a place right after Byron. It cost too much to go on the wagon ride to the patch, so we picked from the already picked pumpkins. The lady said the already picked ones are better anyways. Chris had never done the pumpkin thing, buying one and carving it, as I have done my whole like, so I was excited to do that with him. We picked a couple out and went home to carve them. It was so fun, Chris did a really good job and we ended up with two pretty good looking pumpkins. I tried to teach Chris all I knew of carving techniques that I of course learned growing up from Dad, heheehee. Brice, Gavin, and I used to carve pumpkins together and it was always so much fun, so I picture passing that tradition on some day.
Later we went to Victoria's for supper. This was Chris' very good idea! We had never been there together and it was so pretty in there and the food was so good! Mom and Dad had thoughtfully given us a gift card to there after they found out that's where we planned on going. So, it was free! Thanks Mom and Dad! We went back home and Chris brought me a little black box and inside was a very beautiful ring! The stone is cirtrine, like a orangey-yellow and I really love it. It's kinda a special stone to me because, one year before we got marriend, so October 21st 2005, Chris gave me a necklace with 2 different colors of citrine on it, which looks like a leaf. And now, one year after we're married, he gave me the ring, which matches :) So, they'll both always remind me of our wedding season, October, and our anniversary :) Thanks sweetheart!
After that, we opened up our top layer of wedding cake that had been perfectly sealed by my mom one year earlier, and stuck in the freezer. It was really yummy! I forgot it had a layer of fudge in the middle, mmmhmm, yum. We ate that as we watched our wedding video. We're thinking it would be a neat tradition to watch it every year. I dunno how realistic that is once you have kids everywhere, but we'll try! We actually listened to Aaron's message (our minister) and it was neat to hear it again. It was such a beautiful wonderful day, it was fun to see it and remember everything. The dance was so hilarious, thanks to uncle rick for taping it!
Then I told Chris we should dance to our wedding song, so we did and it was fun :) Maybe we can do that every year too :)
It was very fun to just hang out with Chris all day and remember our weddding. I'm so very grateful to God for bringing this man into my life. He's more than I could every ask for, he's my very best friend and the love of my life! I'm so excited that I get be married to him for the rest of our lives. I love you Chris!

A Better Week

This past weekend was fun...

On Saturday Cara and I hung out, we ate at Dos Amigos, it's kinda our thing to do, and went to the mall for a bit. Pretty soon it was time to head over to Mom's for the b-day party. Lots of family was there and we celebrated Dad turning 49 and Brice turning 21. (They have the same b-day for any who do not know that). It was fun hanging out with everyone, I just love my family.

Sunday, Chris and I hung out with the 2-3 year olds talking about Noah and the Ark in Sunday school, heehee, they're so cute and fun. Then we went to church and out to the mall. We celebrated my uncle Denny's b-day there and Susan (my aunt, his wife) brough cake, 2 days in a row for the cake count. Then Christopher went to work and I headed on over to the Hemmer's to watch the Gymnastics World Championships on Brad's giganto television. Apparently it was not in high-def, to Brad's disappointment, but it looked pretty darn cool to me! It was fun to see gymnastics again and see the new talent, it's hardly ever on tv. Now I'm excited for the olympics this summer. Cara and I hung out again that evening, went to a movie and such. It was nice to have her home for the weekend! Thanks for hanging with me Cara!

On Monday, I had to work. Oh my goodness what a hassle that day was. Ugh...so many problems. My day revolved around faxing, phone calling, and consulting social workers with issues over a patient with no health care and $5000 worth of drugs to pay for out of pocket, yeh right. What a mess.

Monday night, Chris and I traveled to Austin to see Laura, his lil' sis, on her b-day! She turned 12 yesterday. We first gave her some presents, a skate board, pads, and a soccer ball. She's pretty good on the skate board and I was pretty bad, but she had fun! She wanted this by the way, we didn't just randomly get her a skate board. Then we brought in the 3.5 boxes packed full of my mom's clothes that are now too big for her and between Chris' mom and 3 sisters, all the clothes got divied up and everyone got a large amount of new clothes! yipyip, it was fun. Then we made then do a lil' fashion show and they liked their new stuff and looked good! Then we took Laura to Applebees for din and they sang to her and she got the sundae. Finally, back at the house, Katie (Chris' 24yr. old sis) had bought a cake, so we ate it! (cake #3 for the week!) We had a lot of fun there, it's nice to hang out with Chris' side too. At least they don't live any further away than Austin!

I was dreading the thought of coming back Tuesday morning, so I signed up to get the day off. It would be rare and surprising if it actually happened. But to my joy and elation, they called at 5:40am and said I can have a 4 hour EA (excused absence)! Chris can confirm that I was sqealing with joy. So, I stayed in bed and slept in. However, they called and said they did need me to work from 11-3, so I headed on in to work, but the terror hours (7-11) were past so that was nice. I ended up getting a unit transfer and a post-op at the same time, so that kept me busy from 11 to about 2. The last hour kinda dragged on, but it was a day shift I must say!

Chris picked me up from work and he headed out to work out and go to class tonight while I went to weight watchers, worked out, and got some groceries.

Tonight, Casey and I could both go to the same WW, so that was so nice to see her and hang out with her. We ate at the mall afterwards and caught up on things. I realized how much I've missed her, she's so fun and good to talk with! Thanks for hanging with me Bish! We went to Maurces as well to pay off her bill there, well she payed it, not me, heehee. Then I did the stepper and treadmill @ the DAHLC while watching House, a wonderful show.

I came home and folded clothes, played Yahtzee with Chris, and now here I sit on the computer.

Tomorrow, I'm going along with Gran and Mom on a lil' road trip. I'm not exactly sure what this will entail, but I'm just honored to be invited. I think we'll just look at pretty fall trees :)

Thursday, Kellie is coming home and me, her, and Jill are gonna hang out! I'm so excited! This has been a much better week than last. I've gotten to do more things and see so many lovely people.

I think I will end this and go see what Chris is doing! He just got done playing football on PS2, which he does every so often, and he won! yessssssssssss.

Love ya all!

Fall is pretty, but the bugs RUIN it.

Here I am at work, I have 2 hours left, not bad. It's actually been a steady/slow night, with no real dilemmas or stress. I got a ton done when I got here and now it's dwindling down to a few more meds and a couple more repositioning of people. My patients are just glorious today and I had the same 3 yesterday too. They are so pleasent. It seems like I either have 3 great ones or 3 difficult and not a mix. Last night I took care of a 17yr boy for a couple hours. I think it's so fun when I get a teenager for a patient. It's a rare occurance, but I really like them. At firtst it's intimidating because they're practically my peers (well not quite) but they're at least my generation compared to my usual 60 and up patients. Not that I do not like my other patients, but it's a fun change when I get to take care of a kid. It's not enough to make me wanna go into pediatrics though, maybe babies, but not peds. There are some difficult ones on our floor right now though, some nurses sure have they're work cut out for them tonight!

Oh what else.....I've been killing bugs all week, it's a 2nd job. Ladybugs (LBs) swarm our room and Box-Elder bugs are attacking the kitchen. It's dispicable; I can't stand it and I've tried just about everything. Bascially, we just vacuum them up, it's a load of fun.

I've been very bored this week. Very bored. There's nothing to do. All I do is work out, sit around, go out to eat, and work. It seems like there's no one around, like I'm in a brand new town where I don't know anybody! Oh well, wudda ya do. I can't think of any hobbies, I'm a slug.

My wedding album is almost done, so that's exciting, it's gonna be really cool, I can show it to you.

Ok, well I'll go give some meds now...

Bye all.

I'm so vain, I probably think this blog is about me.

Last Sunday, I couldn't take it no mo'. My hair and it's longness and huge ponytail-ness was driving me nuts! I just needed it to be different. So I said, yo, mamma, will ya cut my hair. And she was all like, um yeh I will. So there we sat in the garage, me on the stool and Mom with the scissors. She went ta' choppin and even layering like pro. Then I was like, hey, cut some bangs, and she was like, hmmm....ok, let's do it. So, we ended up with bangs. They're hard to get used to and I cannot tell if they are right, but some peeps say, hey I like your bangs, so unless they're lying, I guess they work. Hmmm......different, but fun. So, here's some fun pics. I don't normally sit around taking pictures of myself, but tonight I did, so you can all see my mom's handiwork.....here it is for your viewing pleasure.....MY BANGS. Scroll down even more for a blast into the past, circa 1997, middle school bangs. Bye!

Oh no you di'nt

Curlin' Em up like 1997, whoop whoop, I heart middle school.

Blog-a-thon

I know I should update, I just keep putting it off...

Today....
Chris and I took a jaunt to my fav. little town of Winona with the intentions of eating, seeing the lake, and hopefully seeing Kellie! We first found her dorm room and knocked on the door, since she wasn't answering her cell phone. Just as we knocked, she came up behind us with a confused look on her face. Turns out she had just got done with class and was coming back to her room. We took her out to Jefferson's and it was delish and fun to catch up with Kellie. She's really liking Winona! Then Chris and I walked along the lake path and got bombarded by gnats after I just got done saying it seemed like there weren't any gnats in Winona this year, never minddddddd. They were all over our clothes, ick.

Last Saturday......
My cousin Jamey and his fiance Kate took Chris and I, and Megan too, out to lunch! He knew Chris would be in town for his class so he asked us if he could take us out for an almost 1 year anniversary. We went to a super beautiful restaurant called Zelo. Jamey said it's Italian, but it had a ton of different foods. It was quite amazing and so yummy. It was fun to hang out with them since we don't see them much. It's nice to hang out with Kate and get to know her better before she becomes a cousin!!! We also got to check out their place and chit-chat there for a bit too.

September 5th-7th......
Chris and I finally used our gift certificate to the Woodland Trials Bed & Breakfast from Jodi and Darin for our wedding present. We spent a bit of our own money to stay a second night as well. The place is in Hinckley, MN and was so beautiful! It was truly amazing. The dining room area was pretty, our room was gorgeous, the outside area was beautiful and the basement was a complete game room! We had lots of fun hanging out there, going on the paddle boat, playing games, and most importantly the golf cart trails in the woods. We got to go on a treasure hunt with the golf carts, a map, and a GPS, 15 mins. later we found a silver dollar and a note behind a tree, it was so fun. Our second day there we decided to go to Duluth! This was on Chris' b-day and he'd never been there and I remember liking it a lot, so we went! We walked along the lake and walked out on the pier and later across the bridge to the beach. We touched the water and threw some rocks, heehee. Then we ate at Grandma's and went in some shops. We discovered a tower called Enger's tower not too far away. We climbed up the 6 or 7 stories to a look-out of Duluth, it was so pretty. We discovered a garden there as well with some more look-out spots, it was so fun! We were really glad we went. The two days were such an adventure and it was fun to do something together that neither of us had done before. Thanks Jodi and Darin!

A few nights ago I got to have dinner with Kelsey and Heather (poor Bish was too busy with school to come :( but it was lots of fun hangin' with them. Kelsey is now with child for those who dont' know, so we like to ask her all about how that's going.

I decorated my house with all falls things, I love fall colors, they're so fun to decorate with. I got all orange and yellow-ish candles and such, fun fun. I am now making cookies too, but I should not eat them! Yikes.

Weight watchers is going okay, it's frustrating to not loose a ton each week, but it's working little by little. I have lost 16 lbs so far, in 15 weeks, kinda depressing, that's only like 1 lb/wk, but that's actually what they want you to loose each week, jeesh. I've been going to the new Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center, it's quite amazing and spacious. I can always get on a machine that I want and it has a pool to swim in too! My favorite feature is that every cardio machine has it's own personal TV, so I can watch whatever I want and change my own channels!

Work is ok, it's the same. I dont' love it, I don't hate it, but I know it's not what I want to do forever. It's frustrating and hurts my back. When people ask me how my job is, I usually say, it's good, it's ok, but really I dislike it, hahaha, sorry but true. I don't know what I'd rather do, but this floor I work on is insane, it's non-stop insanity.

Setting: St. Mary's Hospital, Joseph 7C Orthopedics
Time: Morning, 8:00am (or 0800 for you hospital folks)
Situation: Nurse Brianna meeting Mr. X for the first time

Brianna: Hi Mr. X, how are you this morning, my name's Brianna, I'll be your nurse today
Mr X: Yeh, whatever, you don't care about me
Brianna: Oh, I'm sorry, why do you think that, I do care!
Mr X: Yeh yeh yeh, all you nurses and doctors are the same, you messed up everything during my stay here, I bet you don't even know what got messed up do you?
Brianna: Well I'm sorry something got messed up, but I'll do my best today!
Mr. X: Put my clothes on me!!!!
Brianna: Um....what.....er......now?
Mr. X: I'm leaving at 10:00am, put my clothes on me!
Brianna: Well Mr. X, why don't you order some breakfast, I'll help you get all cleaned up, and then we can get your clothes on.
Mr. X: No! I want my clothes on, I bet you don't even know where my clothes are!
Brianna: Well, I assume they're in the closet.....
Mr. X: (with much agitation and disgust) Of course they're in the closet, and I bet you don't even know what my clothes look like!!!!
Brianna: Well, you're right, I've never seen your clothes before so I'm not sure what they look like....
Mr X: (with much force) I KNEW IT!!!!!
Brianna: ok........why don't we get your clothes out and ready and I'll be right back...yehhhhhh.....
Brianna exits room and wonders why Mr. X hated her from the get-go. What a splendid way to spend the morning. Brianna is not sad to see Mr. X leave at 10:00am.......

Well, I think I'll leave you with that before this gets too long.
Off I go to make spaghetti.....
Love, Brianna.
