Lonny the snake whisperer

Well, here I sit on a Monday night, enjoying the cool breeze in my bedroom from the fan! Yes, the fan is needed on a 70-something degree weather day like today!

It was great NOT working today and getting to run around and be outside. This morning, Dad, Brice, and I went to Carlos before Brice had to head back to college. It was fun, but Mom, Chris, and Gavin were missing :( Dad and I waved farewell to Brice and I headed out in search of a few things. I went to the mall and to Khols and got cozy jammies there. They are capri bottoms and short sleeved top, no more long sleeves, at least for now. Chris and I have a little bet (no money involved) regarding the weather. I say it'll get cold and snow again and Chris says no way man. So, we'll see, but I say I'm right, it's a crazy place we live in.

Later I came back home and made meat loaf and little potatoes cut up to be hashbrowns. I had to call my mom for a few tips because I'm a cooking newbie. It turned out pretty good though.
After supper, Chris had a brilliant idea! We went, for the first time of 07' to......Dairy Queen! Chris got a crunch coat cone (which I almost got) and I got a Mr. Misty Float, which is a mr. misty with icecream down the side, it's so good. It was wonderful to spend a good chunck of the evening just hanging out with my amazing husband :)

We came back home and went our seperate ways; Chris to the homework room and me roaming around doing various things.

Ew, I just killed an LB. What's an LB you ask? It's a lady bug. I see them and kill them so frequently that I had to come up with a nick-name for them. LBs invade our place daily, but they congregate in OUR bedroom. LBs are sneaky and nasty. They shimmy their way through non-existent cracks in the windows and perch themselves on our ceiling or behind the blinds where they repeatedly fly in the window making that sick "plunk, plunk, plunk" noise. Eventually I have to get out of bed open the blinds and kill the LB because I cannot sleep hearing the "plunk plunk" and knowing it could come out and crawl in my ear. If it crawled in my ear, I would spaze out, I mean really spaze out. Chris would have to take me to the ER and I would end up on one of those True Stories of the ER shows: The Girl with the LB in her ear. Oh sick, barf, when will they leave? Go back home you little nasty LBs!!!!

Oh let's see what else is going on.....not a lotta. This past weekend was a killa'. I worked Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a total of 30 hours. Ugh. I had mostly the same patients everyday, so I got to know them well and got into a routine, that's the only nice thing about working consecutive days. One of my patients was quite the character. We'll call him "Lonny" and the story goes a lil' something like this.......

"Hi Lonny, I'm Brianna, I'll be your nurse today"
"I know what you're up to, I know what's going on here"
"What do you mean Lonny?" "What's going on"
"Oh I know (says with knowing look as he wobbles to the closet to get his coat)
"Where are you going Lonny?"
"I'm going downstairs to meet my wife!!!!!"
"Lonny, your wife is out of town, she isn't here"
"DID I SAY SHE WAS HERE? (says in snotty/threatening voice)
"Umm... (trying to think of something else to say that doesn't sound like YES YOU DID, LIAR!!)
"I'M OUT OF HERE" (leaves room and makes way towards locked nurses break room)
"Lonny, that's the nurses room"
"Oh I know what you're up to, you're lying!"
"Lonny, let's go back to your room, we can play cards!"
"No, there are bugs and snakes in my room"
"Lonny, there are no snakes in the Mayo Clinic...."
***Lonny takes of down hall, 2 nurses and a nurse's aide follow the unstopplabe and somewhat combative Lonny all the way to the Mary Brigh intensive care area until a male nurse, who seems somewhat more threatening, convinces Lonny to come back to his room***

Sigh, that was a small example of my entire day with "Lonny".
Eventually we made a deal that he'd stay in his room, we even shook on it, but Lonny did not hold up his end of the deal.

Well, I think I shall go watch TV before I go to bed. I work Wed, Thurs, and Fri evening this week, so I have one more day of freedom.

Bye all, thanks for reading.

Daffodils

I bought $5 worth of daffodils today because I really wanted flowers in the house! They're so pretty and they're almost all open now, as opposed to when I took this picture. I know I haven' t updated in a while, but at least this is something, so here they are! Love you all!

At Work

Hello all. I am in the midst of my 1st of 12 hour weekend overnights. I only do this once every 6 weeks (I know Casey, you think it's every week) Tonight is differnt though, I'm in a close observation room. Basically I sit in this one room all night long and watch 2 ladies. They tend to want to just jump out of bed, in which case they would fall, so I make sure they don't. So far they've been sleeping. It's 2:09am and I've been in here since 11:30. It's an easier job than having 4-5 regular patients, but it's hard in the sense that I sit in one room for eight hours, possibly not doing much at all. Luckily however, the tv has video on demand. I just finished wathcing She's the Man, which was really funny, and now I'm watching Red Eye, which I've seen before and is creepy. I figure I'll stay awake better if I watch a scary movie. My ladies are both snoring, dahhhhh. I have a pill to give at 3 and another at 7, and that's all that's planned. But more things will happen, for instance, they'll have to go to the bathroom and I'll help them turn into a new position in a few hours so they don't sleep on their backs all night. And, that's about it. Ahhhhh, I cannot wait to go home, hug Chris goodbye (cuz he'll go to church) and then get my jammies on and sleep for a while. Hehehe, both my ladies just let out a big snore at the same time and then stopped, ahhhhh, silence.

Today I was lazy. I tried to sleep in as long as possible, so I could stay awake overnight, and I managed to sleep until 11:30. Then I watched tv until 3:00, seriously. I watched like three back to back America's Next Top Model and gymnastics, yes, my favorite sport made a rare televised appearance. It was the American Cup and whaddya know, 2 American's won, yessssss. At 3, Chris and I went to Wendy's for a lil' snack. Then he left for work and I had supper with Mom and Dad. And then I came here, to work!

Man, I am getting really tired. I've already had 3 pops, raisons, cheese, and such. Pop doesn't help, oh well. I could jog in place I guess.

I hope you all are enjoying your sleeping. See ya later alligators. rrrrarrrr.

~Brianna, the night nurse, mauahahah.

You Don't Know Me

This past weekend was a blast.
I went to the cities to see a whole lotta my fav. sport, gymnastics!!!! The highlight, of course, was Saturday night, when my very own cousin Kellie Hemmer competed in individul finals! She did awesomely and her best result was 7th on vault, yes, the 7th best vaulter in all of AA Minnesota gymnastics. That is so incredible. She is now done with high school gymnastics and is actually going to be competing for Winona State (my alma mater, hahahahha) this coming year. Cool huh? I think so.

Aside from my cousin the superstar, I also saw the amazing AA team finals, Roseville won, and I saw both A and AA individuals. There sure are some amazing talants out there, it's fun to see people from around the state. Pine Island, which is only singe A, got 2nd in team for MN, pretty dang good.

It was fun to hang out with Julie, Brad, Jill, and Kellie. I got invited along to stay in the FREE hotel room and get in to the meets for FREE, thank you Mayo High School. We did other fun things, like ate at Subway, went swimming, and ate pizza right next to the crazy Stillwater hockey team who had just won state. At the hotel we were at there were gymnasts and hockey players all over the place. It was funny. The hockey girls are bigger and hit each other and the gymnasts have cute hair and are more poised. hahah.

I ran into a friend from high school's family (Kelli Walsh) her little sister plays for Stillwater hockey. I stepped into the elevator and I saw Kelli's parents and sister and I was like, oh! hi! hahah.

Then we came home on Sunday and I got to spend several hours shoveling out my car. Oh by the way......I GOT A NEW CAR!!!!!! Yeh, I don't think I wrote about this. My poor poor Mazda failed me for the last time. So, we quickly got to looking and researching and with the help of my car smart Papa we found a few to pick from and ended up getting a Toyota Corolla (like I had in high school)!!!! It's kinda bronzey-tan, a 2001, with 65,000 miles, and I got it for 6,200. Not back huh? I almost got a Camry, but then I went with the Corolla at the last second, it's more my style and it's so dang cute. Chris says it's a good cute girl car for me, hahaha. But it is so nice to get in my car and be confident that it's going to turn on and that it will produce heat in under 5 mintues. Also, this summer I won't be sweating to death in my mazda and have sweat marks on my back when I get out of my car because my new car has AC!!! I would put in a picture, but it's covered in snow. I scraped it at least 3 times today.

This week I've been working evenings. Last night was the only good night of the three days in a row. I had 3 easy-goin' men to take care of, all of whom didn't need much. No bed pans, none, YEESSSSS. Ugh bed pans just hurt the back, so tired of it!!! I work overnight's this weekend, barf, so I have one more day, tomorrow, to be free.

Today I hung out with Mom and Gavin and tonight Dad and I went to The Bridge to Terabithia and it was actually really good. I didn't think it woudl be that good, it wasn't all fantasy stuff, it actually had a lot more than that and a really good story to it. I would recommend it, although it was also pretty sad too.....but good.

Now my fingers hurt and I can hardly type. So, I bid thee all farewell.
