A week of work and a day of fun!

This week was okay, but I felt like I worked everynight. Working nights somehow seems to take up the whole day.

Wednesday was the only day I didn't work, but I found myself in the hospital regardless.
My sis-in-law, 12yr old Laura, went to the children's hospital at St. Mary's to get checked out for high blood sugar. Turns out, she has Diabetes type 2 (you should look it up). So, it seems everything is okay now and it's being taken care of, so that's good. So Chris and I spent some time with her that day.

I should go back to last weekend. Mom and I went to Women of Faith, my 3rd time there, with Kellie, Jill, Julie, and her mom and sister. The theme from Amazing Freedom, which is a very good theme! It was lots of fun! We got to hear Sandi Patty sing and also Nichole Nordeman. I've heard of her, but didn't realize how much I like her songs until I heard her sing! So, now I have her best hits cd :) and I really like it!

Today was nice. Chris and I went to work out and then went to Erbs. It was lots of fun :) But then.....he had to go work :( I went to my Mom's and we went to the Mall and Target to get some things. Then her and I and Dad ate at Culver's where I saw my dear husband working. He was busy managing, but was able to say hello to us a few times! Yip Yip. He does such a good job there. I'm so proud.

Then I went to the movie Dan in Real Life with none other than the fabulous Casey Bishop! It was a hilarious/touching movie, I'd recommed it. Then we went and browsed around at Shopko and figured out how to use her new phone that has many fun and high-tech features. My phone now seems quite ghetto. It's always fun to hang with "Bish" and chit-chat.

Now I am home, alone, and I think I'll pick up the messes I made earlier and soon my Chris will be home and I can attack him with hugs as he loves so much, teehee.

Well, there's a nice lil' update for y'all. Yee-haw.

Love, sincerely, best wishes, Brianna L.

1st Wedding Anniversary.

Yesterday, Chris and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary! We could hardly believe it had been a year already, it's crazy how fast a year can go.

We started it off by teaching 6 crazy 2-3 year olds at Sunday school. Well I we prevented them from killing each other more than we actually taught them anything, but yeh, what can you do, they're 2. Then we went to church and off to the mall to eat lunch with the fam.

We then went to buy pumpkins at a place right after Byron. It cost too much to go on the wagon ride to the patch, so we picked from the already picked pumpkins. The lady said the already picked ones are better anyways. Chris had never done the pumpkin thing, buying one and carving it, as I have done my whole like, so I was excited to do that with him. We picked a couple out and went home to carve them. It was so fun, Chris did a really good job and we ended up with two pretty good looking pumpkins. I tried to teach Chris all I knew of carving techniques that I of course learned growing up from Dad, heheehee. Brice, Gavin, and I used to carve pumpkins together and it was always so much fun, so I picture passing that tradition on some day.
Later we went to Victoria's for supper. This was Chris' very good idea! We had never been there together and it was so pretty in there and the food was so good! Mom and Dad had thoughtfully given us a gift card to there after they found out that's where we planned on going. So, it was free! Thanks Mom and Dad! We went back home and Chris brought me a little black box and inside was a very beautiful ring! The stone is cirtrine, like a orangey-yellow and I really love it. It's kinda a special stone to me because, one year before we got marriend, so October 21st 2005, Chris gave me a necklace with 2 different colors of citrine on it, which looks like a leaf. And now, one year after we're married, he gave me the ring, which matches :) So, they'll both always remind me of our wedding season, October, and our anniversary :) Thanks sweetheart!
After that, we opened up our top layer of wedding cake that had been perfectly sealed by my mom one year earlier, and stuck in the freezer. It was really yummy! I forgot it had a layer of fudge in the middle, mmmhmm, yum. We ate that as we watched our wedding video. We're thinking it would be a neat tradition to watch it every year. I dunno how realistic that is once you have kids everywhere, but we'll try! We actually listened to Aaron's message (our minister) and it was neat to hear it again. It was such a beautiful wonderful day, it was fun to see it and remember everything. The dance was so hilarious, thanks to uncle rick for taping it!
Then I told Chris we should dance to our wedding song, so we did and it was fun :) Maybe we can do that every year too :)
It was very fun to just hang out with Chris all day and remember our weddding. I'm so very grateful to God for bringing this man into my life. He's more than I could every ask for, he's my very best friend and the love of my life! I'm so excited that I get be married to him for the rest of our lives. I love you Chris!

A Better Week

This past weekend was fun...

On Saturday Cara and I hung out, we ate at Dos Amigos, it's kinda our thing to do, and went to the mall for a bit. Pretty soon it was time to head over to Mom's for the b-day party. Lots of family was there and we celebrated Dad turning 49 and Brice turning 21. (They have the same b-day for any who do not know that). It was fun hanging out with everyone, I just love my family.

Sunday, Chris and I hung out with the 2-3 year olds talking about Noah and the Ark in Sunday school, heehee, they're so cute and fun. Then we went to church and out to the mall. We celebrated my uncle Denny's b-day there and Susan (my aunt, his wife) brough cake, 2 days in a row for the cake count. Then Christopher went to work and I headed on over to the Hemmer's to watch the Gymnastics World Championships on Brad's giganto television. Apparently it was not in high-def, to Brad's disappointment, but it looked pretty darn cool to me! It was fun to see gymnastics again and see the new talent, it's hardly ever on tv. Now I'm excited for the olympics this summer. Cara and I hung out again that evening, went to a movie and such. It was nice to have her home for the weekend! Thanks for hanging with me Cara!

On Monday, I had to work. Oh my goodness what a hassle that day was. Ugh...so many problems. My day revolved around faxing, phone calling, and consulting social workers with issues over a patient with no health care and $5000 worth of drugs to pay for out of pocket, yeh right. What a mess.

Monday night, Chris and I traveled to Austin to see Laura, his lil' sis, on her b-day! She turned 12 yesterday. We first gave her some presents, a skate board, pads, and a soccer ball. She's pretty good on the skate board and I was pretty bad, but she had fun! She wanted this by the way, we didn't just randomly get her a skate board. Then we brought in the 3.5 boxes packed full of my mom's clothes that are now too big for her and between Chris' mom and 3 sisters, all the clothes got divied up and everyone got a large amount of new clothes! yipyip, it was fun. Then we made then do a lil' fashion show and they liked their new stuff and looked good! Then we took Laura to Applebees for din and they sang to her and she got the sundae. Finally, back at the house, Katie (Chris' 24yr. old sis) had bought a cake, so we ate it! (cake #3 for the week!) We had a lot of fun there, it's nice to hang out with Chris' side too. At least they don't live any further away than Austin!

I was dreading the thought of coming back Tuesday morning, so I signed up to get the day off. It would be rare and surprising if it actually happened. But to my joy and elation, they called at 5:40am and said I can have a 4 hour EA (excused absence)! Chris can confirm that I was sqealing with joy. So, I stayed in bed and slept in. However, they called and said they did need me to work from 11-3, so I headed on in to work, but the terror hours (7-11) were past so that was nice. I ended up getting a unit transfer and a post-op at the same time, so that kept me busy from 11 to about 2. The last hour kinda dragged on, but it was a day shift I must say!

Chris picked me up from work and he headed out to work out and go to class tonight while I went to weight watchers, worked out, and got some groceries.

Tonight, Casey and I could both go to the same WW, so that was so nice to see her and hang out with her. We ate at the mall afterwards and caught up on things. I realized how much I've missed her, she's so fun and good to talk with! Thanks for hanging with me Bish! We went to Maurces as well to pay off her bill there, well she payed it, not me, heehee. Then I did the stepper and treadmill @ the DAHLC while watching House, a wonderful show.

I came home and folded clothes, played Yahtzee with Chris, and now here I sit on the computer.

Tomorrow, I'm going along with Gran and Mom on a lil' road trip. I'm not exactly sure what this will entail, but I'm just honored to be invited. I think we'll just look at pretty fall trees :)

Thursday, Kellie is coming home and me, her, and Jill are gonna hang out! I'm so excited! This has been a much better week than last. I've gotten to do more things and see so many lovely people.

I think I will end this and go see what Chris is doing! He just got done playing football on PS2, which he does every so often, and he won! yessssssssssss.

Love ya all!

Fall is pretty, but the bugs RUIN it.

Here I am at work, I have 2 hours left, not bad. It's actually been a steady/slow night, with no real dilemmas or stress. I got a ton done when I got here and now it's dwindling down to a few more meds and a couple more repositioning of people. My patients are just glorious today and I had the same 3 yesterday too. They are so pleasent. It seems like I either have 3 great ones or 3 difficult and not a mix. Last night I took care of a 17yr boy for a couple hours. I think it's so fun when I get a teenager for a patient. It's a rare occurance, but I really like them. At firtst it's intimidating because they're practically my peers (well not quite) but they're at least my generation compared to my usual 60 and up patients. Not that I do not like my other patients, but it's a fun change when I get to take care of a kid. It's not enough to make me wanna go into pediatrics though, maybe babies, but not peds. There are some difficult ones on our floor right now though, some nurses sure have they're work cut out for them tonight!

Oh what else.....I've been killing bugs all week, it's a 2nd job. Ladybugs (LBs) swarm our room and Box-Elder bugs are attacking the kitchen. It's dispicable; I can't stand it and I've tried just about everything. Bascially, we just vacuum them up, it's a load of fun.

I've been very bored this week. Very bored. There's nothing to do. All I do is work out, sit around, go out to eat, and work. It seems like there's no one around, like I'm in a brand new town where I don't know anybody! Oh well, wudda ya do. I can't think of any hobbies, I'm a slug.

My wedding album is almost done, so that's exciting, it's gonna be really cool, I can show it to you.

Ok, well I'll go give some meds now...

Bye all.
