Quote of the Night

Brianna and Heather's Conversation:

Brianna: "You're a butt cheek"
Heather: "I'm a left butt cheek and you're a right butt cheek..............
together, we make a whole butt.
Both: heehee, heehee

Just thought I'd share that with everyone.
Also, I am blogging so much lately because I'm studying so much lately, due to my two tests tomorrow, and this is a way to have a little break. So, enjoy or be annoyed. I've got about two hours left, after which I will have studied for these two tests a total of 30 hours in three days, yikes. I just went and got pop to tide me over for a while, it is very cold out and the heat doesn't really work in my car, brr. I am going to Women of Faith tomorrow and I am very excited. Also, good luck to my mommy on her interview tomorrow, if I were the interviewer I'd pick my mom : ) Oh, my new fav. cds are Clean-Shane and Shane, and Devotion-Newsboys. Shane and Shane are opening for David Crowder so I'll see them at the concert in Nov. whoot! Well y'alls, I hope you're having a good night, adios.

Ten Things You Should Never Say During A Job Interview

1. Oh, my criminal record? Well...if it helps, I didn't pull the trigger.

2. If it involves sitting around doing nothing, I'm your man!

3. Are you busy later? I know a great little Italian place.

4. Wait, you wanted someone with at least a high school diploma? Nevermind.

5. References? That may be a problem due to those stupid restraining orders.

6. Aren't you Rachel's dad? Man, she's one wild and crazy chica!

7. Do you mind if I light up?

8. Where do I see myself a year from now? Sitting in your chair, actually.

9. Sorry if I'm not up to par this morning...I still have a nasty hangover.

10. Before we start the interview, can I get an advance on my pay? My bookie's an impatient man.

A tutor who needs a tutor....this is not right.

I should not be a tutor! Seriously, this boy just asked me for help on a section that I don't know anything about anymore. I don't keep myself up to date, cuz I hardly have time to do my own stuff. Therefore, I am helpful about 50% of the time. I just recommended to the guy that he come back tomorrow morning when the other tutor who knows this stuff will be here. Pretty soon my conscious will get the best of me and I won't be working here anymore. I feel dumb, blah, oh well. Bye again.

Music + Studying = me

I have never been able to study with music, espcially music while reading. However, right now I am listening to David Crowder on my headphone, hearing the loud boys at the other table do math, and reading about mental health for my test. I don't why I can do this now, but I'm excited cuz this means my brain is improving. Just thought I'd share that with you. Bye.

A Song about God

There is none like You. No one else can touch my heart like You do. I could search for all eternity long and find there is none like You, none like You, not one like You.....

Your mercy flows like a river wide. And healing comes in Your name. And helpless children are safe in your arms. There is none like You.

There is none like You. No one else can touch my heart like You do. I could search for all eternity long and find there is none like You, none like You, not one like You...

My Happy Weekend

HEY!

I'm at work, you know what this means....it's time to waste some time.

So, this past weekend was pretty much perfect:

Thursday afternoon/night I think Casey, Heather, and I got out of school-mode because there were no classes on Friday. Therefore I think we just kinda slacked around and probably went to KFC and watched a movie. I love when I can hang out with the roomies and do fun things and not school things.

Friday Cara Marie, my dear friend who goes to Bethel came to East Lake for the first time! We ate at Jefferson's and then decided to be random and go to LaCrosse to the mall. I'd been there once, but had not clue how to get there. So, we drove to the general area and then a nice lady from Kwik Trip helped us out, and we weren't too far away, nice. That mall is cool, I got three shirts and 15$ jeans, whoot! Cara got a shirt and shoes : ) She was very patient with my taking forever in the dressing room at Maurices. I counted and the saleslady in the store asked me 5 different times if I needed a dressing room/a different size. I've never liked that, but I was still nice to hear. I'm all about getting my own dressing room and going to get a differnet size by myself if I need to. Whatev. The hightlight of the LaCrosse mall is the Gloria Jeans, I got Mint Chocolate Bomb, my fav. drink ever, which they used to have at our mall until Caribou killed it! I have a history of spilling it on myself though, but I improved by only spilling two small dots, yay. Later we hung out with Casey and went to Culver's for icecream, yum yum. Then Cara left :(
Casey and I decided to go to a movie later on, we went to Flight Plan, I liked it, but I had to watch some parts through my fingers, yikes, eep!

Saturday I slept until noon, hahaha, craziness. Then I got up and studied all day. I took a break and went to Taco Bell. On the way back I got rear ended, it was very alarming, traffic was slow so I was just going along and all the sudden my head and neck jerk forward and I hear a loud noise. First thoughts-"great, now what's wrong with my car" (it's beed to "the shop" twice this month), Second thought-"Someone hit me!" Sure enough, the boy in the car behind me had a very shocked look on his face. I pulled over into a parking lot and the dude just drove off, I was quite annoyed. However, my car and I are just fine. But still, when ya hit someone, ya see if everything's ok, you don't drive away, jeesh. At 9:00ish, Kelsey came to visit us!!! Her, Casey, and I went to Perkins for a late night supper, but I had breakfast. Then we did face masks and watched the Notebook. It was very fun!

Sunday the three of us went to church, Culvers, Garvin heights to see the pretty town from up high, and then Kelsey had to leave : ( Thanks for coming to see us Kels!!! Come back soon.
Then I studied for a while and realized I really wanted to go home and surprise Chris when he got outta work. He stayed at my house this weekend with Gavin since my parents were at a Bed and Breakfast, so I decided I should visit them so they both wouldn't have to come over to Winona. I hung out outside of Culver's and snuck up on Chris when he came out. He was like, "what are you doing here?" heehee. We walked to the park and swung on the swings, then went to T.G.I. Friday's with Gavin and quizzed each other on historic/sports facts, heehee, funness. Then I stayed for a little while at home and left to come back here. I studied for while and then went to bed.

Today I had four long and sleepy hours of class, now I'm at work for one more hour. I was sitting here working and I got a text message from my mom telling me her and my dad are in Winona (coming home from their little trip). I was super bummed because I'm at work and can't go have lunch with them. So, they ate at McDonalds and then brought me pop and grilled chicken! So I snuck outta work and found them outside and talked for a bit. How random and fun!!! So, I got to see many many people this weekend and I liked it, I liked it a lot : ) Now Ma and Pa are on thier way home and I'm waiting for 2:00 to come so I can leave.

Today I have yet to meet with my mental health client and take my midterm for my night class. Tomorrow morning I meet my community health patient in Kellogg, near Wabasha. Should be interesing. This week will be very busy!!! This weekend I get to go to Women of Faith with my mom and other peeps from my church, yay, I'm so excited, it was fun last year!

Ok, that's all for me I think....have a lovely day and don't eat too much cheese

New, new, new

I have lots to say, but I need to go sleepy, I just wanted to try out my new backgroud, whoot! Happy Birthday Cousin Megan!!!!!!!!

I decided I had to change somehting, anything, so I changed my room, I like it, now I have an open square instead of the open hallway, I liked the old way, but I thought it would be fun to make it different. Casey helped me lug the dresser to the other corner:) Although, I am now blocking the door that contains the heater or whatever and my bed is too close to the window, so I'm causing a fire hazard, yay!!! Posted by Picasa

You should go to http://www.typogenerator.net/index.php Posted by Picasa
Ya type in your name or whatever you want and then it makes a cool picture dealio like this. It's a good thing to do when you should be writing a paper!

Me llamo es Brianna. Me gusta queso.

I feel like writing a quick blog, though I dunno why, because I can't think of what I'm going to say. It's been a pretty busy past couple of weeks, mostly my days are jam packed with the things I need to get done and the places I need to go. I had my last clinical in LaCrosse for the semseter and in two weeks it'll switch over to clinical in Wabasha, but it will involve going to client's houses, instead of the hospital. I'm glad to be done at LaCrosse though. My life gets busier for the rest of the semseter because there are non-stop tests and like 5 group projects, but it will all get done somehow. Tonight I need to finish writing a paper. Actually, only the outline is due, but it's impossible to just write an outline. I need to actually write the whole paper and then write an outline. They want a super detailed outline and ya just can't do that and not write and paper, so it defeats the purpose of an outline, but it doesn't bother me, cuz now I'll be ahead of schedule with the paper writing part of it. I get to go home tomorrow, so that is very exciting. We're having a party for Dad and Brice on Sat. so I very excited about seeing my fam. and extended fam. cuz it's been quite a while indeed. Well, I suppose I should get to my paper, blah. See ya alls later. Hope you have a wonderful day/night.

PS: yesterday I wore flip flops and today I wore a sweater. hmmmm....

Random pictures

Hello everybody. I hope you're having a good week! Here are some random pictures I felt like putting on my blog. Adios!
~Brianna

This is one of the Willow Tree figurines called Heart of Gold, You'll Always Have My Heart and it's from Chris. I really wanted it and he found out from my mom, so he brought it for me a couple weeks ago. Heehee, it's so cute. Posted by Picasa

My friend Sooi, who's in nursing with me gave me these little snack things from Hong Kong, where she's from. I was in a bad mood that morning in class and when I came to my night class she had this for me, what a sweetheart, I was quite touched. Posted by Picasa

The flowers I couldn't resist buying for myself. You can even ask my roomies, I resisted several times, but then I decided they were too pretty to pass up. I just love flowers. Posted by Picasa

I bought flavored water insted of pop, y'all should be proud of me. This stuff reminds me of my mom cuz she used to buy it all the time when I was younger and let me have drinks, heehee Posted by Picasa

I love updating

Hello fellow humans.

I thought since I'm sitting here at work and I actually did homework, that I deserve to waste a little time on the computer. However, it's not wasting time because I am updating you on my life which I know is a great source of joy to some of you out there, heehee, so therefore my time spent is justified.

This week has been busy busy. Monday was non-stop. I met with my mental health patient, who I cannot name (I'm sure you're all dying to know), and that was quite interesting. I got to his house and he was very anxious because he needed cigarettes. So, we went and got some. Then we walked to campus and he told me about how he hears voices and sees things that are not there. Then on Tuesday I had clinical all day. I finally got two patients insted of one. My teacher told me I did better with two than with one and she feels better that she's challenged me. I just smiled and nodded, but inside I was thinking, whatever, you just never pain attention to me any of the other weeks and today you gave me two patients, thinking I would suck, and since I didn't suck you think I have improved. Lack of sucking is not improving, I did the same thing I did every other week I was here!!! Not to be mean, but it's the truth. Oh well, not all teachers are very observant, at least she did say something nice.

(okay, now it's one hour later)

Well, I left work and went to pick up my car. This is what the man said that gave me my car back, "a spark plug wire boot was arching out" I loled on the inside for like 5 hours when he told me that. It's good to know what happened, but if I were him talking to me, I would then proceed to give me some kind of information in a way I can understand at least a little bit of what happened. So, technically I know what happened, but I still have no clue what that means. So, anyways, it was about $35, so, that's good news. Then, I went to get my bike, which was $30. The guy there informed me that the guy who fixed it said I need to know that my bike is unsafe to use, it needs new brakes, tires, wheels, sprockets (well, I dunno if bikes have sprockets, or what a sprocket is, but I wanted to use the word), and various others things and it's a hazard to my safety to ride it. So, I had to agree and give them my signature indicating that I understand my bike will most likely kill me the next time I ride it, and I'm fine with that, I'm not paying $100,00o for new sprockets!!!! heehee.

So, now I'm back to my apartment, with a better car and bike (I think), I am about $70 dollars poorer, but that's ok. In the long run, what's $70. I feel especially happy that it's the bike that is hazardous to my life and not the car. I think my brakes going out on my bike is a little better than my breaks going out on my car.

Now, I need to do a lotta stuff, so I'm gonna get to that. I shall be up late!!!!

Ok, have a good night/day and may you never have to sign your life away for a bike.

Captain's Log # 326.5

I thought I'd update you all on my life...

This weekend (Sat/Sun. and yes Friday) I had to do homework and study, but I got to do fun things too:

On Friday, Heather and I went to Jefferson's, fun!!! We got to sit at a high top table, which we'd never done before, so we felt special, at least I did. heehee. Then I did a homework assignment until 1:00am because it had to be emailed to my teacher by early Saturday morning. I guess 1am is as early as Saturday morning gets.

On Saturday, Heather and I went and got groceries (she drove everywhere since my car is being fixed). She also was so kind as to help me get my bike (also broken) to the "shop". We put it in the trunk, because it wouldn't go in the back seat, and we bunji corded the trunk down. However, it bounced around like a kangaroo (heehee) and we thought, at least I thought, the trunk would fall off. We got it there, and hopefully I get it back today (Mon.) We used my awesome Subway coupons to get a buy one get one free in the Walmart Subway, so that was fun. Then I forced myself to start studying, which I did until midnight.

On Sunday, my room phone rang and woke up me at about 9:15. The person on the phone said I had a delivery. I was like all confused and disoriented, but I knew that I was excited. So, I tried to figure whether or not I should go down there in my pajamas and due to a lack of time, I just decided who cares if the delivery guy sees me in pajamas? I was excited because I thought it would be from Chris, like maybe he called someone to deliver flowers or something. I was thinking maybe he would do this because I haven't seen him in a week and usually we see each other once a week, but this week it wouldnt' work out. So, when I got down to the door, to my complete surprise, there stood my wonderful fiance with a McDonalds bag in one had and a pop in the other. I didn't know it was him. He was very sneaky. So, we went back up to the room and I had McDonalds breakfast in bed, heehee, how fun. That was the best surprise ever. (Thanks Chris, I love you!) Then I studied from like 5-11pm, talked to Chris for a while, and then was going to go to bed, but decided I needed to devise a way to get my white board calender to stay up....

It's fallen three times, even with new sticky things every time, and I decided somthing had to be done when on the thrid time, it fell on me. yikes. I had a few 3M hooks left over from last year so decided to use that. I needed some kind of string-like material to attach to the white board and hang on the hook. Finally, I discovered some ribbon I have so I stapled it to my board and now it's hanging from the hook. I'm so excited, now it wont' fall. The weird thing is that last year, it never fell, and I used the same stickies and the walls are the same in every apartment. Maybe there is some kind of special gravity force field in my room. I dunno. Or maybe Heather or Casey come in periodically and pull on the board a little so it'll fall later on. So, because of the white-board-hanging-up-devise-invention, I did not go to bed until 1am.

Then, I got up on today at 6:15, ouch. I took a test, then a quiz, and now I'm at work. Next I meet with my mental health client and we're going on a walk. Then I have my glorious night class, then I need to study. Whew. Mondays and Tuesdays are packed. I'd rather have that then on Thursday and Friday or something.

Ok, well I guess this is goodbye. Have a good day and don't do anything I wouldn't do (i.e. eat caterpillars)

Love, Brianna M. Hemmer

Disgusted

I was just reading a book for class and it said something about "therapeutic abortion" meaning the use of abortion because the mother might be at risk for harm if she gives birth. I like physically shuddered when I read that. Ugh, just because the abortion may reduce the risk for the mother while giving birth does not mean that the abortion is therapeutic, ugh , it's never therapeutic, ever ever ever. I can't even believe it's even an option, it makes me wanna cry and I feel so disappointed in our crazy world. I don't think people who do it are horrible, what's horrible is that they do not see or understand why it's so horrible!

Ecstatic

I am so excited that I have to blog about this. Ok, so every week I have clinical on Tuesday for nine long hours. Then I have to write up a huge thing about my patient and his/her disease. The first one I did took me a total of 9 hours to do, which is insane. I got it back and I got 20/25, which made me so sad. In the nursing grading scale, that is a C. So, I spent 9 hours, doing very best, and I got a lovely C. Had I put no effort into it, or did it quickly and without thought I would have been inspired to try harder on my second one, but I sat down to do my second one thinking, why bother, I'll sit here for 9 hours and get a stupid C. However, I couldn't not try if I wanted to cuz that's the way I am, if it takes me 9 hours to do my best, I do it, annoying, but it's a good too. So, I worked really hard and without many breaks and it only took me 6 hours this time. I quadruple checked it for perfection, was extremely detailed and throuough, more so than the throughness of my first one and I email it to the Teach. She emailed it back to me today and I opened the email containing my grade while peeking through my fingers like you'd do for a scary movie. I saw the grade....and it's 25/25!!! I SOLed (shreaked out loud). I hope I'm not hallucinating, because 100%s don't come around very often since I've started nursing school. It's nice to see hard work rewarded and it's encouragement to keep pressin' on. Also, I got 10/10 on a quiz today! Wowee, this is very exciting. Now I'm sure there will be more C's and such, but it's nice when they throw in some As, it reminds me of high school, when I tried hard and did really well.......hmm...those were the days :)

Anyhoo, so that's my excitement! Now, I need to do a case study on AIDS. The fun does not end I tell ya!

Tonight there are strangers in our apartment doing laundry. They live across the hall and Casey knows them, but it's funny, they just walk in and proceed to do their laundry. Heehee. Tonight my holistic health class was fun. A professional juggler came and did amazing juggling things with swords, clubs, clubs on fire, barbed wire clubs, balls, and so on. The theme tonight was humor and play so that was cool. We got to sit outside for it. The gnats of death appreciated the show, or at least they better have since they were not invited.

Happy Birthday to Casey Bish, she is 20!!! yay. Last night we all went to Green Mill to celebrate and had cake here, it was a scrumtrilescent time.

Well, I spose I should get to my case study so I can sleep tonight. I have clinical tomorrow and in the morning I meet my mental health client, yikes. I have no idea what I'm going to say to him, I hope it'll be good!

Love ya all, have a good day!!!! <3>

***flicks off 500th gnat on pants***

Winona, a very pretty and enjoyable town to be in is now being taken over by the gnat. There are gnats everywhere. Sometimes they are few and then one block later and they're all over your clothes and hair like white on rice. Heehee. It's true! I wanna barf, but I'm trying to get over it. I feel like a cow, shooing off flies all day long, and I don't like it, I never wanted to be a barnyard animal. It's so werid. Where do they come from, why are there 100 million of them per square foot, why this year and not last year? Strangely enough, there are no lady bugs. There are however, suicide squirrels. I have almost fell off my bike and tripped on my rollerblades due to the dear in headlights wannabe squirrels. This town has some crazy insect/animal issues. If I had time, I would start an organization to prevent these psychotic insect/animals taking over the town. It would be called C.C.F.T.E.O.S.S.A.G.I (Concerned citizens for the extermination of suidice squirrels and gnat infestations).

Well, aside from that, school has been ok. It's school and it's not overly enjoyable, but I gotta do it.

This weekend was fun. Heather and I were the only ones here on Friday. We went to Wally and Target, went bike riding (gnats included), and ate at Erbs. She left and I hung around here and watched something or other on tv and relaxed. Then on Sat. I did a bunch of homework then Christopher came over! YAY, I didn't see him in 7 days :) We went to Jefferson's and then hung out at Target. We had no purpose, we just like to walk around I think, heehe, acutally I needed some wall sticky things to hang up my cool map of the world (I like maps :) He got me the Willow Tree figurine I really wanted. I told my mom I wanted it and she told Chris and so he got it! It's a boy holding a gold heart to his chest and it's called "You will always have my heart" it's so sweet and it looks like Chris, as far as wooden figurines go. (Thanks Chris :) and mom, for giving him the idea, heehee. Now it's Sunday. I went to church and then Subway. I also did some more homework and now I'm just kinda hangin' out for a while until the peeps come for out little Casey's b-day supper and cake, whoot! yip yip, I'm excited. Kelsey is coming too! yay! Casey's b-day is tomorrow and she will be entering the 20s! Congratulations on being alive 20 years Casey :)

Hmm...what else do I have to say....Happy 25th anniversary to my aunt and uncle Cindy and Rick Erickson. I love to see people having things like 25th marriage anniversaries since I happen to think it's very wonderful for people to stay together forever like that :) yay for them.

Wow, I just saw a commercial that caught my attention. It's for a new show called Trangenderation or something. It's about people who wanna be the opposite gender and their journey to change into that will be documented. That makes me sad!

I love my new Casting Crowns cd, it's very good, you should buy it, it's called Lifesong.

I also bought a new plant. My first 2.99 one died. So I bought another 2.99 one, but a diff. type, and it's doing quite nicely. The first one died instantly. Apparently the shelves of Target, and not my bedroom, were its ideal living conditions. I love having plants in my room :)

Well I'm out of information. I hope you are all happy to see an update from me, coughcoughBRTIACARLSONcoughcough, heehee!
(PS: Brita, I got my first magazine and it's really fun to look at, thank you!!!)

I wish you all the best and have a lovely day!

Love, Brianna
