Sonshine 2005

So, I just got back from Sonshine! It was soooooo wonderfully fun. It's like all my favorite bands in one place and I get to sleep in a tent. Chris describes it as the Christian version of woodstock and I think that's a good description of it. Kelsey, Heather, Cassandra, and I left early on Thursday morning last week to go to the festival in Wilmar, MN. It took about 3ish hours to get there. We arrrived and found Pete, Meadow Park's youth minister, since he had our tickets. We then found a good spot for our tent near the Wilmar highschool by my church's youth group. Heather pulled out her tent for us to start setting up when we realized the poles were not there. This is not Heather's fault, but something had to be done, so we went to Walmart and found that they had all the camping supplies you'd ever need lining the aisles (clearly they prepare for this festival in their town). So, Cassandra actually wanted to own a tent, so she paid for the majority of the tent which wasn't that expensive. We went to get groceries and lunch and such, then set up our lovely tent. The festival covers a highschool and it's grounds plus a connecting civic center like area were there was more tents and all the bands played around there. There were several small stages and then one huge one were the better known bands played. We explored the area and such and later on that night went to see Skillet, Audio Adrenaline, and Newsboys, which were all amazing, especially Newsboys, this was my favorite night. The next day we saw some bands on the smaller stage like Falling Up, they were awesome, and John Reuban. Later that night we saw Tobymac, Relient K, and Switchfoot, they were all awesome too, but the crowd was obnoxious, I guess they have the right to be, but it was as relaxing to watch like the first night. Heather and I decided to be mosh pitters during Relient K, so we squeezed our way into the middle and got stepped on and people were traveling over our heads and it was, I'm guessing like 200 degrees, heehee, man, that was craziness. The third day we saw Casting Crowns and MercyMe who were both very good!!! I was bummed though, cuz Kutless was supposed to be there this night but weren't for some reason? Overall, it was a blast to see and hear all my favorite bands. The festival was over the three hottest days of my life, it was constant heat and we all got lotsa sun. It was very lovely though, cuz every third hour or so, they open up a fire hydrant and spray it out so we could go run under it, which we did many times a day, it felt soo good! We were wet a lot of this trip, wet and dirty, sick! but it was worth it. I had lots of fun and I'm glad my friends were there with me! So, you should look at my pictures below and you can sorta see some of the bands I saw :) Peace Out

Cars dying, people leaving, and a room with a tunnel, scary!

Hello peeps. OOfdah, it's a hot one out there. I would know; I just walked home from work. I did this because this morning when I went to start my car at 6:30 (the time I am supposed to be at work) it made a clicky noise then did nothing. Therefore, I walked to work, which only made me 7 mins. late. I was with my seven guys today, so I decided to ask them about my car, surprisingly they all pretty much came up with the same answer, something is wrong with my starter/battery or the connection between the two. Despite their short term memory losses, they all sure know a lot about cars, it's fun to listen to explain things to me for a change :)

Today was a saddish day for me at work because my seven guys are no longer seven, they are my six guys. One guy, we'll call him Bob, left yesterday, my day off, to a place in the citites for 30 days. Upon his arrival back to Sunrise, he will not be in my cottage, and possibly not even at Sunrise. I was bummed because he's become one of my favorites and I didn't get to say goodbye! So, today I was in charge of packing up his room which kept me quite busy. I'm sad he's gone, but he needs more help, so because of that, I guess it's good he's gone. But it was weird today with no "Bob" to take care of.

I would like to tell you about my horrible dream, I dunno why, I just feel like it. Okay, so in my dream I am going back to Winona, but I have not yet found a place to live, which makes no sense because I already have. I managed to get a room in a big house like structure over the phone with the lady who's in charge of activities at Sunrise, hmmmm.....
So, I get to school on my first day and the house has like 7 rooms and all the people living in them are wearing black and are smoking and boys live there and I'm not liking it at all....so I find my room and in order to enter my room, one has to scootch threw a very small tunnel. In looking at the tunnel, I'm thinking there's probably not much of a chance that I'll even fit threw it at all and if I did, I'd have to slowly wiggle threw it everytime I wanna get in and outta my room and the thought of that kind of small space makes me VERY uneasy. So, I was like no way am I gonna live here, no way. So, I call Angie, the room arranger lady, and I am extremely firm with her, which is not like me at all, I'm totally not nice about it and I'm pretty much yelling/crying. So, yeh, then she told me there are no more rooms and also that she didn't think I would like the tunnel room, but she thought she'd give it a try. I'm thinking, well that's just lovely!!!! Yeh, then I woke up, but I could still feel the horrible feeling of the thought of being stuck in a tunnel, SICK! Sorry, that was weird, but anyhooo........

I slept in my mom's bed the past two nights, it was fun cuz her bed is big and commmmmfffffyyyy. I did this cuz it's just me and her this week and it's just fun. I got my new lap top, it's very cool. It's a little updated looking and it has a pen that you can write on the screen with and it converts it to text. Or, I can take notes on power point presentations and it shows up in my own handwriting, woweee!!! (WOW MOM **doing with fingers over mouth**I hope at least one person knows what I mean, heehee)

Last night I went with my dear cuzzin Jillian to my grandma Hemmer's house. She's alone this week cuz Grandpa is with the other Hemmer guys campin' We got Subways and watched The Phantom of the Opera. I didn't think I'd like it, but I did :) Then we had icecream and grandma gave me lipstick she didn't like on herself, heehee, funness. Kellie refused to come with because she had gymnastics and she loves it more than she loves other people......so yeh.....just playin' I just like to give ya a hard time Kellie :)

Also, Grandma E., I am hurt, cuz on your blog you mentioned Gavin, Megan, and Jamey, but you left me out because you do not like me! To think, not being liked by your own grandmother, heeheehee, just kiddin, gran, I hope your back gets better and how dare those people make you come sleep at the clinic and then wake you up repeatedly, I'll have to have a talk with them once I work as a nurse, I'll have connections I'm sure :)

Well, I am going to Sonshine tomorrow to listen to cool bands and sleep in a tent! Hopefully we find our way there and it's a hoppin' good time. So, I will be gone early tomorrow and come home Sunday at some point. Whoot whoot.

Love ya all, Love Brianna M. Hemmer

Oh ya know...

I don't really have anything to say, but I thought I'd just say hello. I thought I'd go to bed early tonight (10:00) since I'm getting up around 5:45, but it's already 10:35, so my new goal is 11:00. It's my last day of a three day stretch at work. I've found it's a lot harder to work multiple days in a row at Sunrise than it was at Culver's because of the getting up at horrible, painful hours of the day. Once I'm up and there at work, it's fine, but when my alarm goes off, I keep thinking, how can this be happening to me, this cannot be true. heehee. Gavin, Brice, Dad, Grandpa H., Ryan, and possibly Brad are going camping tomorrow in northern Minnsota. They'll be gone till Sat. probably so it's just me and Momma. I hope they have fun and have good weather! I am leaving on Thurs-Sat (I think) to go to Sonshine festival in Wilmar, MN. I get to see Kutless, Mercy Me, Relient K, Switchfoot, Audio Adrenaline, Casting Crowns, and Newboys play in concert :) I'm excited, all the bands I really like in one place. Kelsey, Heather, and Cassandra Forsythe (sp?) are going with me and we're stayin' in a tent! whoo hoo! I also hope we get good weather for that. Either way, it'll be fun and I get four days off of work! whooop. Work is still very interesting, every day new, weird things happen and I'm trying harder and harder to do a better job of taking care of these people. I wish I could do so much more for them! It's hard to make it a good day for someone who's somewhere they don't wanna be :( I just know they get really happy when their families come, so if you have a fam. member in a nursing home, go visit them!!! heehee. Hmm..what else do I have to say....well the 4th of July was super fun as always. We all went over to Grandma E.'s and Chris got to come too, so that was awesome. Jenny, Brice's girlfriend came as well! We hung out all day, played outside and ate food and then we went to Silver Lake in our "spot" and watched the fireworks. I love being with my family all day and seeing the ones I don't see as much. My little almost three year old cousin Jensen is getting to be quite hilarious, she made us laugh all night, eating all the food and shreaking at the fireworks. She asks me lots of questions about Chris, if we're married yet, where Chris is if he's not with us at the moment, and the strangest question of all, "where is baby Chris?" not sure what this means, but it's funny. She also informed me that she can't come to our wedding because she is not married yet :) Oh I love my cousins :) The next morning, on July 5th, Jodi and Darin (my aunt and uncle) invited our whole family out to their son, my baby cousin Isaac's gravesite to celebrate his one year birthday in heaven. We let some balloons go and had cupcakes, it was really nice to be there and think about my cousin who I will get to hold in heaven someday :)

Well, I should go to bed so I can get up in less pain and agony, jk :) Have a wonderful Monday everybody and I love you all!
